We’re here. It’s time. A fantastic 2024-25 regular season has concluded, the most glorious and perfect postseason in sports has commenced, and Bubble Watch has, as is tradition, gone electric. Rather than sweeping one-off updates after dozens of games have played, we’ll be treating this as a daily, quasi-live file, updating every night after games are concluded and publishing a fresh Watch every morning — concluding with one final pre-Selection Show update Sunday afternoon.
Note: Substack’s settings don’t allow publishers to resend the same post to their subscribers multiple times — probably wisely, as you can imagine the potential pitfalls of letting people spam the same thing to email inboxes over and over — so we will be sending out a new version of these links, with a fresh comment section, to the (at last count) 7,219 (!!) of you who receive these posts in your inboxes. Thank you for doing that! That’s pretty cool of you! If you’re new here today, and you’d like to join this legion of hoops obsessives, enter your email address below.
Most importantly, if you’d like to actually, you know, read the thing, as well as hop in on the comments and live chats, kick us a few bucks to join our ever-growing group of paid subscribers today.
Beyond Bubble Watch, we’ll obviously be writing and live-chatting (and likely some live-videoing; pretty sure there isn’t a more common or less clunky term for that) throughout what should be a fantastic 2025 NCAA Tournament, in addition to all of the thoughtful year-round coverage we have made a staple of this newsletter since its founding two offseasons ago. Here’s a link to the Champ Week live chat thread, which will be running all week. As the whimsical father of a high school friend once inscribed on his vanity plate: Go wild.
With many games featuring bubble-relevant teams left to be played in the next four days, as of Wednesday morning, drum roll please, here is where the 2025 bubble picture stands:
