As a Michigan State fan I love Tom Izzo, but I'm worried he's holding the program back from being elite because he seems to value loyalty to his own players over recruiting elite transfer talent. (Only one of the five transfers he's brought in the last two years is from a P5 school...and that P5 school was Miami). Am I being irrational?
What kind of conference record does Miami need to make the dance if they don't win the MAC tourney? I'm trying to think of a historical comparison for an undefeated mid-major with such a dreadful schedule.
What’s the realistic ceiling for Nebrasketball in B1G play? I know it’s not close to the most athletic roster in the conference, but it just feels like every single guy has 100% bought into his role and they’re way more than the sum of their parts (and, dare I hope, might actually be the group to get that elusive March win?)
Norlander and Parrish brought up a stat on their pod about how the winning percentage of non power teams against power teams was lower than it was in the past. I was a "last years tournament was just random small sample" person but I am getting a bit nervous that this tournament will be similarly upset deprived, and list of potential bubble teams from the non power leagues is bleak. Do you think we are set for another chalky tournament?
What are your thoughts on the Big East with non-conf pretty much wrapped up? UConn is UConn but beyond that. Can SHU/NOVA fill the void STJ looks to be leaving? Or is this a 1 bid league?
Happy holidays and Happy New Year! Which great college player are you most surprised never became a good NBA player? Which great NBA player are you most surprised became a star based on their college career?
Didn't he go after both Pettiford and Cadeau, but they are good friends from playing AAU together so he pissed one or both of them off by recruiting both of them (or prioritizing one of them over the other)? Or something like that. I'm probably messing up the details.
Having fun with the newsletter again this year, but the consolodation of talent at the P5 level makes me sad. Is there anything other than random hope for a mid or low major team to make noise at the dance this year? The names floating out there (Yale? Saint Mary's? San Diego State?) are not making me feel good. And Gonzaga doesn't count (talk to me next year when the Pac-whatever comes together).

So... Any hope?
